The following R packages and related files can be downloaded from this site.

  • dae_2.7-26.zip – The dae package of R functions has been developed to facilitate the use of R for the design and analysis of variance of experiments (last updated 4th May 2017). It is described in dae-manual.pdf, which is also found in the dae\doc directory where the package is installed. Also found in this directory is a vignette describing the how to use fac.layout to produce randomized layout for experiments. The package is also available from CRAN (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/dae/index.html). However, the version here may be a little newer than that on CRAN.
  • asremlPlus_4.0-09.zip – The asremlPlus package is a collection of R functions to augment the use of ASReml-R in fitting mixed models. This is a b-release (last updated 14th May 2017), which is compatible with both ASReml-R versions 3 and 4. ASReml-R version 4 is currently undergoing b-testing and has some changes in syntax that necessitate changes in asremlPlus. This version of asremlPlus is a major revamp of the package and also includes substantial syntax changes. For more information install the package and run the R command news(package = “asremlPlus”) or consult the manual. An overview can be obtained using ?asremlPlus. The package will also be made available from CRAN (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/asremlPlus/index.html). However, the version here may be a little newer than that on CRAN. For a b-release of ASReml-R version 4, you must contact VSNi (http://www.vsni.co.uk/).
  • asremlPlus_2.0-13.zip – The asremlPlus package is a collection of R functions to augment the use of asreml in fitting mixed models (this version last updated 26th September 2016). This is the final version of asremlPlus that was produced specifically for ASReml-R version 3 and is no longer being developed. It is described in asremlPlus.pdf, which also found in the asremlPlus\doc directory where the package is installed. An overview can be obtained using ?asremlPlus.
  • imageData_0.1-36.zip – The imageData package is a collection of R functions that Aids in Processing and Plotting Data from a Lemna-Tec Scananalyzer (last updated 22nd April 2017). It is described in imageData-manual.pdf, which also found in the imageData\doc directory where the package is installed. An overview can be obtained using ?imageData. These functions should be considered to be development versions that may change over time.
  • sundry_2.4-1.zip – The sundry package is a collection of useful R functions (last updated 11th November 2014). It is described in sundry-manual.pdf, which is also found in the sundry\doc directory where the package is installed.

Notes for randomizing and assessing the properties of both standard and multiphase experimental designs

A workshop was conducted on the design and analysis of both standard and multiphase experimental designs at The International Biometric Society Australasian Region Conference, Hobart, Australia in November 2015. Three computing sessions were designed that used dae to randomize and assess the properties of these designs. The notes for the computing sessions can be downloaded by clicking on the following links: notes without output and notes with output and solutions. The notes also show how to use ASReml-R, a commercial R package, and asremlPlus to analyse the data from such experiments. If you do not have a license for ASReml-R, you can still undertake the design aspects.

You will also need the data sets for both the design and analysis facets and these are available in Workshop2015.zip.

Installing any package on a workstation

Download the zip file and use the R command install.packages(repos=NULL, pkgs="path\\file.zip") where path is the path to the folder where you saved the zip file and file is the name of the zip file.
